About Nurses in Rhode Island

Nurses in Rhode Island is a member of the American Nurses Association and the International Nurses Society of Addictions Nursing. Members of our staff are board certified through the American Nurses Association in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. We are non-profit organization dedicated to providing treatment referrals by phone to those in New England struggling under the weight of opioid addiction.

We work to educate the community and to remove the stigma of getting help by emphasizing the importance of improving one’s mental health and overall being. Our founder Timothy Aurelio conducts evidence based seminars on the effectiveness of treatment.

Having recovered from addiction himself, Timothy now helps others achieve the same results. He is a motivational speaker and speaks at many schools, forums, and events on a wide range of topics from the current opioid epidemic and solutions to working together as a community to eliminate the stigma associated with getting help for addiction. To schedule an evidence based seminar, please send a message through the contact form on our home page. Include the date, time and the topics you would like discussed.
Timothy's Story
My name is Timothy Aurelio. I’m a nurse and a motivational speaker on addiction recovery. I am in recovery. As a registered nurse, I have experienced the battle of addiction to opioids both personally, and professionally in my career.

I wanted to reach out to you in hopes that my experience, strength, and  hope may touch your life. My addiction to opioids started with a medical injury. Like most people, I didn't wake up one day and decide to become addicted. But as my life began to spiral out of control, I slowly realized that I was. I felt lost and desperate at the time, but I never gave up trying and my support team never gave up on me.

I didn't recover on my first try. It took me 15 years of actively struggling with addiction to finally “get it.”
Miracles do happen, I am living proof. I'm not certain how I've survived such a horrible addiction, but I do know that placing one foot in front of the other and doing the next right thing has carried me this far.

My deep spiritual connection with God provides me the strength and resolve for today and hope for the days to come. I've successfully completed Hepatitis-C treatment and my liver is now back to perfect health. I've quit smoking cigarettes. I now exercise and eat healthy. My life has changed in ways that I never could have imagined and I've been blessed to be able to pay it forward.

I'm married to the most beautiful woman in the world-her resolve and unconditional love for me is unconscionable. I'm now in graduate school for my master’s degree in nursing, am board certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing, and work full-time with the substance abuse and mental health population.

If you are looking to change your life and stop using opioids or other substances, help is available. I want you to get excited about your recovery and your new life. You can do this and I'm here to help you get your life back. We cannot achieve wellness on our own.
Remember, there is no "right" way to get clean and sober. Together, we'll do what works for you and get you on the road to wellness.

Warmest Regards
